United Nations Organization atau Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa adalah salah satu organisasi internasional dimana Indonesia berpartisipasi dan berperan aktif. Indonesia resmi menjadi anggota PBB yang keenam puluh setelah menerima suara bulat dari negara-negara anggota pada tanggal 28 September 1950.

Kerjasama Ekonomi Asia Pasifik atau APEC adalah organisasi internasional yang didirikan pada tahun 1989, pada tahun yang sama Indonesia menjadi anggota APEC.

APEC adalah organisasi kerjasama ekonomi kawasan Asia-Pasifik. Jumlah anggota APEC adalah 21 negara.

Beberapa peran Indonesia dalam organisasi internasional ini antara lain:

  • Pernah menjadi Presiden APEC selama beberapa periode.

4. Organisasi Kerjasama Islam (OKI)
Indonesia juga telah bergabung dengan Organisasi Kerjasama Islam atau OKI. Organisasi Kerjasama Islam adalah organisasi internasional yang didirikan dengan tujuan untuk memperkuat solidaritas umat Islam, mengadvokasi perdamaian dunia dan mendukung perjuangan kemerdekaan Palestina.

Organisasi internasional yang diikuti Indonesia sebagai bentuk hubungan internasional dengan tujuan mewujudkan perdamaian dunia adalah Konferensi Asia-Afrika. Selain menjadi anggota Konferensi Asia-Afrika, Indonesia juga berperan sebagai pionir dalam membentuk konferensi Asia-Afrika ini.

Konferensi Asia-Afrika pertama diadakan pada bulan 18-24 April 1955 di Gedung Merdeka, Bandung, Indonesia. Konferensi ini diselenggarakan dengan tujuan untuk memperjuangkan kepentingan bersama, khususnya kedaulatan negara-negara Asia dan Afrika, melawan imperialisme dan rasisme.

Gagasan pertemuan Asia-Afrika disampaikan oleh Perdana Menteri Ali Sastroamidjojo kepada Majelis Sementara Perwakilan Rakyat pada tanggal 23 Agustus 1953. Kemudian, untuk melanjutkan gagasan ini, diadakan Konferensi Kolombo dari tanggal 28 April hingga 2 Mei , 1956 dan mempertemukan para pemimpin Sri Lanka, Burma atau Myanmar, Pakistan, Indonesia dan India.

Dalam pertemuan itu dicapai kesepakatan untuk menyelenggarakan konferensi lanjutan negara-negara Asia Afrika yang biasa disebut Konferensi Asia Afrika.
